In the vast sea of grief, no one should have to navigate alone. Our Anchors are a part of the loss community—bereaved parents, siblings, and supporters who stand strong, offering comfort, understanding, and hope.
I became a member of the loss community in 2010 when I lost my daughter Rylee at 22 weeks due to incompetent cervix. In 2020, I had a second loss this time my son, Owen due to multi-cystic kidney disease. I began volunteering with the Sea of Hope Foundation in 2024 because I want to help others who have experienced infant or pregnancy loss not feel so alone. When I had my first loss in 2010 there were very few support groups around and nobody that I had found who helped with the cost of burial. There are so many things that I find sets Sea of Hope apart from any other organizations that I have been a part but one of my favorite initiatives is the healthcare initiative in which we’d like to set up trainings for healthcare providers to help them provide the compassionate and supportive care during this difficult time.
